Six people have been questioned by the police over the controversial death of a 23-year-old Lameck Arani in Bandari Mombasa.

Initial investigations reveal that there was no object at the swimming pool that could have led to the late Lameck's fractured ribs and lungs and caused internal bleeding.

Sources within the investigating team at the central police station in Mombasa reveal that the deceased was taken to Ganjoni Hospital by his colleagues before the Bandari Maritime Academy team rushed him to the Coast General Hospital.

Among those interrogated is Brian Kamau one of the employees of Everdiva Company and a colleague to the late Lameck who found him at the pool.

He says foam was oozing from his mouth and nose and there were no signs of drowning.

Brian and his colleagues later took a tuk-tuk and rushed him to Ganjoni Hospital.

A team from Bandari Maritime Academy stepped in led by Joseph Ngunjiri Mbuthia Senior Principal Marine in the engineering department, Fredrick Kadenge acting swimming pool caretaker and Evans Kitiabi who took the late to Coast General Hospital using a car registration number KCT 282Y.

According to investigations police have ruled out the presence of any object that would have led to the late Lameck fracturing his four ribs.

According to the swimming pool caretaker at Bandari Maritime Academy Frederick Kadenge who was among the six people interrogated by the police there were no CCTV cameras and Bandari Maritime Academy was installing CCTV cameras after the incident.

It is alleged that there were some people around the swimming pool and police are trying to piece together why the said persons did not notice what was happening at the pool.

According to the post-mortem examination report, Lameck had fractured four ribs on his right-hand side and suffered internal bleeding.

Police also say there was no object at the pool that might have led to the said injuries.

They have now ordered Fredrick Kadenge to appear before them at the central police station for further interrogation.
