Police in Lagos, Nigeria, are currently questioning eight domestic workers of Afrobeats star Davido over the death of his three-year-old son who reportedly died by drowning.

David Adeleke Ifeanyi Jr, is said to have drowned in a swimming pool on Monday night at Davido's home in Banana Island, Lagos.

The BBC reports that Lagos State Commander SP Benjamin Hundeyin has confirmed that the eight workers will remain in custody until police conclude investigations.

According to Hundeyin, the eight were in Davido's house when the incident occurred but none of them reported the matter to police.

Davido and the boy's mother, fiancé Chioma Roland, have yet to issue an official statement on the death of their son with reports from Lagos intimating that the couple is still reeling from shock.

The infant's death comes just a few days after the couple celebrated his third birthday on October 20.

Prior to the boy's demise, Davido had posted a video of himself teaching the toddler how to swim which was well-received by Nigerians on social media.

The body of the deceased toddler has since been transported to a local mortuary for storage as investigations continue.

Davido is now the second Nigerian artiste, in recent memory, to lose his child to drowning after D'banj and his wife, Lineo Didi, in 2018.
