KWPL: Kibera Women purring after Mathare scalp

Kibera harvested maximum points in the Slum derby on Sunday, September 27 at Police Sacco Stadium thanks to Ann Arusi 68th minute penalty.

“The girls played extremely hard. They played well, we were to win with a big margin but Mathare was a very good team and they gave us tough work on the pitch. Regardless if it was a derby or not, we are very happy that we got the maximum points.”

It’s also a good feeling that there were a lot of fans who come from both teams and they really motivated both sides.”

Kibera who finished third in the 2025-2026 is preparing to take on Ulinzi Starlets on Sunday October 4, 2026 at Ulinzi Sports complex.

His counterpart Ann Aluoch said they learnt a lot from the loss as they look forward to come out of their ruins against Kayole starlets on Saturday October 3, 2026 at Dandora Stadium.

“We lacked character in the derby against Kibera and that’s something I am going to work on going to our next fixture this weekend. I also noted that NSL is very different from the league something we are not used to but now we will fight to merge the competition in the top flight league”

Other weekend fixtures will see the league leaders Kenya Police Bullets taking on Shabana Starlets at the Police Sacco Stadium as newbies Elim White Ladies will wrap up Saturday fixtures against Trinity Starlets at Ndura Sports Complex.

ON Sunday Bungoma Queens will play Zetech Sparks at Masinde Muliro stadium in Bungoma as Gideons Starlets will host former champions Vihiga Queens at Raila Odinga stadium in Homa Bay County.
