KWPL: Kibera Soccer Women target top spot against Elim White Ladies

The Kibera-based side head into Saturday’s clash at Police Sacco Stadium buoyed by a 2-0 victory over Kayole Starlets in their previous fixture at Vapor Grounds.

Kibera are third on the standings with 15 points, and a win would lift them to the summit, depending on other results.

Leaders Ulinzi Starlets have 18 points, while Mathare United Women and Shabana occupy fourth and fifth positions with 10 and nine points respectively.

Adhiambo says the team has worked on its shortcomings from the Kayole victory but will not underestimate their opponents, who previously competed as Trans Nzoia Falcons.

“We have had proper training ahead of the match and rectified mistakes from the last win against Kayole. We are confident of emerging victorious. Elim are a good side with talented players, and we will give them maximum respect as we target a win,” she said.

The former Kayole Starlets coach also confirmed that she has no injury concerns ahead of the encounter, with the player who had been suspended following a red card now available for selection.

“I thank God that I have no injury doubts. The only doubt was my player who was handed a red card but she has finished serving the ban and is now free to return. Our aim this season is to win the league and I believe with hard work and resilience we will achieve the dream,” she averred.

Other Saturday fixtures will see Zetech Sparks take on Mathare United, Shabana face Trinity, Vihiga Queens meet Kenya Police Bullets, while Bungoma Queens host leaders Ulinzi Starlets.

Gideon Starlets will wrap up the round against Kayole Starlets.
