The federation Friday said the decision is to allow the national men’s team, Wafalme Stars, adequately prepare for the forthcoming CAVB African Nations Championship Zone V Qualifiers 2026 set for June 1-5 in Kampala, Uganda.
“The Federation considers the Zone V qualifiers a matter of national importance and has therefore resolved to provide the national team, WAFALME Stars, with adequate preparation time ahead of the championship.
“KVF acknowledges that participating countries within the zone have already commenced intensive preparations, making it necessary for Kenya to equally accord the national team sufficient time for training, tactical organization, and team integration,” said KVF Organising Secretary John Oronje.
After three rounds, Kenya Prisons are leading the league standings on 36 points, four above second-placed KPA who have played two fewer matches while debutants Chema are third on 30 points after 13 matches.
Holders GSU are languishing ninth on 15 points after 10 matches, four points adrift of Eldowas who are eighth —the final playoff slot.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Trailblazers, KAPU and Equity Bank are also in contention for the end of season playoffs that features teams that finish top eight in the regular season.
Meanwhile, KCB Friday continued their women’s league fine run with a commanding 3-0 sets victory over Kenyatta University at Nyayo Stadium on while holders Kenya Pipeline stretched their unbeaten run to four matches this season with a 3-1 set win over Postbank.
After a slow start, defending champions Pipeline turned on the style to see off the bankers in sets of 20-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 and maintain their dominance.
