Brookside Dairy has pumped KSh 30 million into the 2026 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One national games, set to be staged at Kisumu School from April 5 to 11, extending a partnership that now spans 23 years.
The funding will support the organization and smooth running
of the national championships, which bring together top school teams that have
advanced through zonal and regional qualifiers. The event will feature
athletics, basketball, hockey, and rugby 15s, with national titles on the line
across all disciplines.
Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday during the launch,
Brookside Dairy Corporate Communications Manager Wilson Okong'o said the
company's long-term involvement reflects a sustained commitment to youth
development through sport.
"Today marks the 23rd year in Brookside Dairy's
involvement as the primary partner in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports
Association Term 1 games," Okong'o said.
He noted that the partnership is anchored on nurturing
talent and expanding opportunity for young people through structured sporting
pathways.
"Our initiative as Brookside Dairy is designed to
strengthen the promotion of talent in sports and also create a structured
pathway for our young people in their various skills on the field," he
said.
Okong'o further pointed to the alignment between the
sponsorship and ongoing education reforms that integrate sport into learning
under the competency-based curriculum.
"We continue to support government efforts in
streamlining the physical education strand within the creative arts and sports
science faculty in the CBC," he said.
KSSSA Secretary General David Ngugi welcomed the continued
support, saying Brookside has remained a dependable partner in school sports
for over two decades.
"Brookside have been with us for over two decades
without a break," Ngugi said.
He added that beyond competition support, the partnership
has also improved athlete welfare during the games.
"Apart from the sponsorship, they make sure there is
nourishment through milk for our students when they are playing," he said.
The Kisumu-hosted championship, scheduled for one week from next week, is expected to attract strong participation from across the country as schools compete for national honours in various sporting codes.
