Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women's basketball team head coach Samuel Ocholla has expressed his satisfaction after his side overcame signs of rust to defeat Zetech Sparks 69-53 in a National Women's Basketball Premier League match over the weekend.

The victory ensured the Dockers maintained their perfect record this season, extending their unbeaten run to ten matches and sit second at the standings with 20 points, one point behind league leaders, Stanbic Aces who have played one match extra.

Ocholla admitted that the month-long break from competitive action affected his team's rhythm, despite the players remaining physically fit during the layoff.

"Coming off a one-month break, the consistency we had built was lost a bit. The last time we played was almost a month ago. Fitness was not the issue, but match fitness was lacking in that game. All in all, I'm grateful because we managed to play well and collect the two points," said Ocholla.

The tactician praised his players for overcoming a spirited challenge from Zetech Sparks, noting that the score line did not fully reflect the contest's competitiveness.

"The difference was not that big, but it was a competitive game from the ladies. We are happy with the result and now we pick up from there as we prepare for the next fixtures."

With the first leg of the season approaching its conclusion, Ocholla said his focus has now shifted to maintaining momentum and ensuring his side continues its impressive run.

"We take the positives from this game and continue preparing for the next matches. The objective is to keep improving and carry this momentum into the remaining fixtures."

The Dockers have now played 10 matches, winning all of them to maintain their 100 percent record and strengthen their grip on top spot in the league standings.
