The result reflects the steady progress Mugabe referenced, with KPA increasingly showing the ability to manage pressure situations and close out tight contests.
“It was important to get the win. We managed the game well, and I’m seeing great improvement in the team,” Mugabe said, summing up a performance that tested his squad’s resilience.
“The result was good, of course the win was needed. It was a bit weird playing the match without shot clock which made us be limited in possession but that was not an excuse,” Mugabe added.
KPA had to recover from a sluggish start, trailing 11–13 after the first quarter, before delivering a commanding second period (25–13) to open up a 36–26 halftime lead.
Lakeside responded strongly after the break, taking the third quarter 18–12 to close the gap and set up a tense finish.
But, in line with their coach’s remarks, the Dockers showed control in the decisive moments, edging the fourth quarter 10–8 to secure the away victory and maintain their strong run in the league.
