KPA edge Blades, close in on semi-final s pot

The Dockers will now return home to Makande Gymnasium, Mombasa, where they will host the students in Game Two on Saturday and, if necessary, Game Three on Sunday.

KPA need just one victory from the two remaining games to book their place in the semi-finals, while Blades must win both encounters to overturn the deficit and progress.

KPA head coach Robert Mugabe was pleased with the opening victory but warned his charges against complacency as they prepare for the return leg.

“The win was very important for us, despite the fact that we started badly. We managed to regain our concentration and pull through for the victory. Now, it’s back to Mombasa to regroup and organise ourselves as we look to win the second game and progress to the semi-finals. It won’t be easy, but we are focused and ready for the weekend. Hopefully, we can finish the job on Saturday,” said Mugabe.

Elsewhere, defending champions Nairobi City Thunder and Stanbic Shields booked their places in the semi-finals after winning their respective Game One and Game Two encounters against Lakeside and Ulinzi Warriors over the weekend.

Meanwhile, giants Equity Dumas and Umoja are locked at 1-1 after sharing the opening two games of their quarter-final series. The two sides will meet again next weekend in the decisive Game Three, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals.
