While lauding his side’s determination against the unbeaten league leaders, Nson cited their ability to pull their weight as a source of confidence as they eye a playoffs berth at the end of the regular season.
“I'm pretty satisfied with the boys and their attempt to beat the back to back defending champions City Thunder who were basically a full house, and that gives me a lot of excitement about the journey ahead.
“We’re looking forward to more practice sessions to help the players gel and get them ready to compete as the season progresses,” said Nson.
The defeat leaves Lakeside tenth on the standings with nine points from seven matches, having won two and lost five.
Meanwhile, Nson has also outlined the objectives for the league newcomers as they continue adjusting to life in the top tier.
“The objective for this season is mainly to remain competitive and survive through the season while continuing to build the team.
“We are also hoping to bring more partners on board so that by next season we can improve further and be among the teams genuinely competing at the top. That remains our main objective,” he added.
Elsewhere, Eldonets head coach Moses Muge expressed disappointment after his team failed to capitalize on home court advantage following their narrow 67-71 loss to Th3 Swish in a Women’s Basketball Premier League clash played at Uasin Gishu Grounds in Eldoret last weekend.
Speaking after the defeat, Muge admitted his side struggled especially in the second quarter despite showing signs of improvement as the game progressed.
“Generally, quarter two was quite tough. We picked up in the second quarter but in third and fourth quarters, we tried but it still did not come out the way we wanted.
“Again, our opponents played very well, which is why it is disappointing, but we move on to the next one.
“We have to work harder next time and try to improve on those mistakes. Of course, we’ll also have to make some adjustments moving forward,” said Muge.
The defeat saw Eldonets remain with 11 points from eight matches after registering three wins and four losses this season.
Meanwhile, Th3 Swish moved sixth on the standings with 12 points from 10 matches, having won four and lost four.
