The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested and charged a Kisumu County Revenue Officer over allegations of bribery.

EACC detectives arrested Francis Muga Odhiambo, who is the Revenue Officer in charge of Kisumu Bus Park, on Monday, before he was arraigned on Wednesday.

Appearing before the Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court, Odhiambo was charged with soliciting and receiving a bribe of Ksh.10,000.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.20,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh.50,000.

Preliminary investigations by the commission established that Odhiambo allegedly solicited a bribe of Ksh.18,500 from a businessman operating a matatu between Kisumu and Kisii, threatening to pursue fabricated charges against the complainant unless the bribe was paid.

According to EACC, the accused was later arrested upon receiving Ksh.10,000 as part payment.

EACC forwarded the investigation file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP after conclusion of the investigations. The DPP thereafter approved the commission’s recommendation to prefer criminal charges against the accused.

The matter is scheduled for hearing on February 25, 2026 at the Kisumu Law Court.
