Executive Director of Kisped Queens, Leackey Ochieng, has revealed that the club has already begun preparations for life in the second-tier National Super League (NSL) ahead of next season, following a difficult campaign that is set to see them relegated from the Women's Premier League.
Ochieng admitted that the team’s struggles this season have all but confirmed their drop from the top-flight FKF Women’s Premier League, citing a poor run of results as the primary cause.
According to the club official, financial constraints have been the biggest hurdle affecting the team’s performance throughout the season. However, he expressed optimism that the situation will be addressed once the team transitions to the lower division.
"This season we had it rough because of financial challenges. However, we have addressed key issues as we prepare for the National Super League next season. We want to avoid experiencing similar problems in the lower division." He told Citizen Digital.
The club has also faced technical bench changes, following the departure of head coach Daniel Minjis. Ochieng confirmed that assistant coach Leah Kigame is currently in charge of the team on an interim basis and will remain at the helm until the end of the season.
Kisped Queens currently sit second from bottom in the league standings with -2 points as the season nears its conclusion, sealing what has been a challenging campaign for the side.
With relegation looming for Kisped, the focus now shifts to rebuilding and restructuring as the club looks to regroup and compete in the NSL next season.
