Three
people are nursing serious injuries after the bus
they were travelling was involved in an accident in Kisii town early Saturday morning.
Confirming
the incident, County Commander Dr. Mutungi Musyoki said the accident occurred when
a lorry ferrying goods lost control and rammed the Guardian Angel bus which was
carrying 21 passengers, knocking it over a bridge and into the river at Nyambera.
Passengers
were safely evacuated from the scene of the accident, with a majority suffering
soft tissue injuries.
Eye
witnesses called for the creation of slow bumps and street lights to avert similar
accidents in the future.
The Kisii
County disaster management authority promptly swung into action in collaboration with the police to
salvage the situation.
The
wreckage of the vehicles was towed to Nyanchwa Police Station as investigations
continue.
