A motion for the impeachment of Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda has been tabled before the county assembly.

This is after 51 out of 69 MCAs signed the motion in support of the removal of deputy governor Monday who has been at loggerheads with his boss Governor Simba Arati.

The Kisii deputy governor is accused of abuse of office and violating the constitution.

He is alleged to have received a bribe of Ksh.799,000 from Dennis Mokaya who wanted to secure a job at the Gusii Water and Sewerage Company (GWASCO).

The money is said to be sent in batches to the deputy governor while another sum was physically delivered at his Gusii stadium office.

Dr Monda is further alleged to have sent a sum of Ksh.100,000 to the manager of GWASCO a sum that was reversed back by the manager.

After missing the job opportunity, Mr Dennis Mokaya reported the matter to the DCI, stating that the deputy governor had threatened him.

While reading out the allegations contained in the impeachment motion, Kisii County Speaker Dr Philip Nyanumba also cited misuse of office by the deputy governor who is said to be using county security personnel as farmhands among other accusations.
