Some 25 coaches are expected to graduate on Friday after undergoing a two-week coaching training at the Gusii Stadium, Kisii County.

The program sponsored by the world football governing body FIFA under the supervision of Football Kenya Federation aims at nurturing and promoting football talents at the grassroots.

The beneficiaries will be dispatched to their local areas to put in practice the skills acquired, with the aim of equipping the upcoming footballers.

FKF Nyanza South Region chairman Yobes Mose said: “We are very grateful to FIFA for spearheading this noble course and we are now assured that football talents from this and other regions will be identified and nurtured so as to a have a bright future in the sport.

“We have already started different young football leagues in the county like the under-10 and under-14. This training is a guarantee that we shall have enough and qualified coaches to undertake the exercise since some of these players featured in the ongoing Chapa Dimba competitions,” he said.

Mose added that training is ongoing in various counties including the neighbouring Kericho and Nyamira counties.

According to Mose, the training will help spur Kisii’s lost football glory.
