Residents of Kabare Gichugu in Kirinyaga County have staged a protest over the rising number of road accidents along the Kiringa-Karia Road.

The residents carried a casket along the road to highlight the alarming loss of lives from frequent road crashes.

They said the accidents have left several families mourning while causing significant loss of property and livelihoods.

The demonstrators also called on the government and road safety authorities to urgently intervene and address the causes of the accidents.

They appealed to authorities to improve road safety measures, enforce traffic regulations and address dangerous sections of the road that they say continue to put motorists and other road users at risk.

The residents also urged motorists to observe speed limits and exercise caution while using the road.
