Gathoge police post in Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County has been temporarily closed for 10 days after six police officers at the station tested positive for COVID-19.

Speaking Tuesday morning, Kirinyaga Police Commander Leah Kithei said five police officers are under self quarantine in the post while the sixth police officer is in isolation at Kianyaga Sub-county Hospital.

“We cannot shutdown the police post but my officers are still there but we are advising the locals to seek services at Kutus police station,” Kithei said.

The police commander said Kianyaga sub-county staff have fumigated the entire post, further urging residents including police officers to follow the COVID-19 safety protocols issued by the Ministry of Health.
