Kinyanjui shines at Sigona as Duracoat Golf Masters heads to Nanyuki

Catherine Kinyanjui delivered an outstanding performance to emerge the overall winner of the third leg of the 2026 Duracoat Golf Masters Series held at Sigona Golf Club on Friday.
Playing off handicap 34, Kinyanjui returned an impressive 44
Stableford points to top a competitive field of 246 golfers who turned out
despite the chilly morning conditions. Her victory came after focused work on
improving her short game.
"I have been having a challenge with my short game,
particularly chipping, and these past three days I focused on improving on the
same. I'm glad it paid off with this great win," said Kinyanjui after
receiving her award.
The triumph carried added significance for Kinyanjui as it
coincided with the celebration of her 14th bar anniversary, giving her even
more reason to celebrate.
In the men's category, Ian Karenju produced a strong round
to claim top honors with 43 Stableford points.
The race for the podium positions was closely contested,
with Darshan Mistry edging Steve Gitao on countback after both golfers finished
on 42 points.
Melisa Detho dominated the ladies' division after carding 39
Stableford points, while Jackline Sirai finished second with 38 points following
a solid outing on the challenging course.
Elsewhere, Teresa Murui continued her remarkable consistency
by securing the Best Effort award for the second tournament in a row, having
also earned the accolade during the Nakuru leg of the series.
The side competitions also produced notable performances.
Lydia Mokaya of Royal Nairobi Golf Club completed a memorable double by winning
both the Ladies' Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin titles.
Gulraj Sehmi claimed the Men's Longest Drive award, while
Munene Nyamweya walked away with the Men's Nearest to the Pin prize.
Attention now shifts to the fourth leg of the 13-event
circuit, which will be staged at Nanyuki Sports Club on July 11 as players
continue their quest for valuable series points and season honors.
