Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has arrived in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, to attend the 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa.

Kindiki was received at Bahir Dar International Airport on Saturday by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The forum, running from October 23 to 25, brings together African leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss the continent’s peace and security challenges under the theme, “Pathways to Peace in Africa: Economic Sovereignty and Geopolitical Transformation.”

Discussions will examine how Africa’s management of its resources, economic institutions and regional integration can contribute to lasting peace.

According to the organisers, the agenda includes resource wealth and monetary sovereignty for industrial development, macroeconomic governance, and the impact of illicit economies on regional stability. About 250 participants are expected, including sitting and former heads of state and government, diplomats, academics, civil society representatives and private sector leaders.

Organised by the Institute for Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University, the Tana Forum provides an informal platform for leaders and experts to debate African-led responses to security challenges.

It was established in 2012 following the African Union’s 2009 Tripoli Declaration, which called for African-led approaches to peace and security.
