Kibera Black Stars have stepped up their preparations for the upcoming National Super League season, with the club focusing on strengthening its squad through the recruitment of young talent.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, head coach Iddi Badi revealed that the Nairobi-based side is keen on building for the future by giving promising youngsters an opportunity to prove themselves ahead of the new campaign.
"We are in our third week of preparation ahead of the new season. We are using the opportunity to add new players to the squad, especially in the areas of striking, goalkeeping and wingbacks. Those are the areas that we really struggled in last season. Our focus will be recruiting young players," he said.
As part of their build-up to the new season, Kibera Black Stars have also lined up several pre-season friendly matches to test the squad and improve match fitness.
"We are looking forward to playing at least two Premier League clubs to gauge ourselves." He added.
Badi disclosed that the club is hoping to face at least two teams from the Kenyan Premier League, with KCB, Tusker, and AFC Leopards among the clubs they are targeting for the warm-up fixtures.
The friendlies are expected to help the technical bench assess new signings and fine-tune the team's tactics before the National Super League season gets underway.
