A family in Ngecha, Kiambu County, is in distress after 36-year-old accountant Samuel Ng'ang'a Mwangi disappeared on 27th February, with efforts to trace him yielding no results.

Ng'ang'a, a father of two, was last seen leaving his home to go to work along Thika Road. According to his wife, Cecilia Mueni, the couple had a brief conversation that morning, after which Ng'ang'a's phone went unanswered and eventually switched off.

"We have two children, one eight years old and another in baby class, and I am eight months pregnant. I keep asking the government why they took him because I need him so much," Cecilia said.

Activist Mwabili Mwagodi confirmed that Ng'ang'a was at work on the day he vanished. "We have met the HR, and they confirmed he was at the office that Friday," Mwagodi said.

The family reported the matter to King’eero Police Station, but despite extensive efforts, including inquiries at Ng'ang'a's workplace and even at the City Mortuary, there has been no trace of him.

Cecilia expressed frustration at the slow response: "I have gone everywhere, asked everyone… even CCTV footage has not been provided. I do not know where he is."

Ng'ang'a has been vocal on social media, often criticising the government and questioning official practices, including a recent incident involving prison officers' graduation without ceremonial dress.

His family believes his disappearance could be linked to his posts. "He was writing things on Facebook, criticizing the government. We suspect this is why he may have been abducted," said George Ng’ang’a, Samuel's father.

Human rights groups, including Vocal Africa, have taken up the case as a suspected abduction. Vocal Africa Director Hussein Khalid appealed to authorities: "We are urging the authorities to ensure Samuel is returned safely. Consider the situation his wife is in now—it is heartbreaking."

Police have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of Ng'ang'a's disappearance.
