Chanting and carrying placards, the residents marched to the constituency offices to present their grievances, in a show of anger that reflected growing frustration with how their representative has carried himself in the wake of the July 16 poll.
At the centre of their complaint is an allegation that Wanjiku, alias Kawanjiku, was seen with his vehicles and several of his associates among groups accused of causing chaos in Ol Kalou during the by-election.
The voters say that conduct, if true, falls far short of what they expect from the person elected to speak for them.
The residents argued that a sitting legislator being linked to violence risks tarnishing the image of the entire constituency.
They demanded accountability over the incident and openly questioned Wanjiku's conduct, calling on him to explain his movements and his association with the individuals accused of fuelling the unrest.
The demonstration followed an investigative report that traced vehicles filmed during the chaos. The broadcaster reported that records linked a Toyota Land Cruiser captured in Ol Kalou to the Kiambaa MP.
Speaking to the media on Monday, the United Democratic Alliance lawmaker confirmed his vehicle was in Ol Kalou on voting day, and said he had used his own car because his role in the by-election was genuine.
Wanjiku argued that anyone intending to cause violence would avoid using an identifiable vehicle.
"Nataka kufikiria ya kwamba, niko na hekima kidogo. In such a scenario, you don't even go with a phone or a personal car," he told the media.
"In such a scenario, unatoa ata number plates za gari yako. Kama hao NTV wanasema ya kwamba gari zao hazijulikani ni gani," he said.
"Ukifanya search kwa NTSA unapata hii ni Probox. Ukifanya search unapata ni ya kampuni fulani," he added.
The MP maintained that he could have concealed his vehicle's identity had he travelled to Ol Kalou with unlawful intentions.
"Ningeweza kufanya hivyo, kama ningejua naenda kutoa vurugu. Lakini kwa sababu I was genuine na kile nilikua nimeenda kufanya, ndio maana nilienda na gari yangu, kama Kawanjiku," he said.
