The discussions focused on how integrating digital learning with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) could transform Kenya's education system.
Speaking at the conference, KEWOTA CEO Benta Opande emphasised the importance of digital learning in ensuring the CBC system's success.
“Digital learning must succeed for CBC to succeed. Without ICT, CBC will remain a dream,” she stated.
Modesta Akaki, Chairperson of KEWOTA, emphasised the organization's efforts to help teachers transition to the digital age while also improving their livelihoods.
“We have introduced laptops and partnered with a company to sell these laptops to teachers. Additionally, we’ve introduced table banking to empower teachers financially. They are growing, and so are we,” she noted.
Harriette Chiggai, the Presidential Advisor on Women's Rights, praised KEWOTA's commitment to women's empowerment and education reform.
“Touching one woman’s life impacts an entire family. KEWOTA’s vision aligns with the government’s goals. We must work together to reshape these visions, support each other, and build a stronger country,” she remarked.
The conference emphasised the importance of digital learning in achieving CBC objectives and preparing teachers and students to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
KEWOTA's initiatives demonstrate how technology can be used to transform education while also empowering female educators throughout Kenya.
KEWOTA, established in 2007 as a welfare organization for women educators, focuses on improving the professional, economic, and personal lives of its members.
The association has been a key driver of digital transformation in education, working with the Estonian government to provide teachers with laptops loaded with digital textbooks, online career services, and access to e-learning courses.
