Residents of Majengo Estate on the outskirts of Kericho town were left stunned when a middle-aged man was discovered dead, suspected to have succumbed to excessive consumption of illicit alcohol.

According to locals, the man was found sprawled by the roadside, a short distance from the notorious spot known for brewing and distributing illicit alcohol within the estate.

It's believed the man had consumed an excessive amount of Chang'aa, a potent local brew, and upon reaching the area, was incapacitated by its effects, leading to his collapse.

Initially, residents mistook his condition for a usual drunken slumber, common among frequenters of the illicit brewing joint.

Having observed the man's prolonged unconsciousness, suspicion arose among the residents. Upon closer inspection, it was tragically discovered that he had passed away.

Authorities were notified, and the incident was promptly reported to the Kericho police station. Police officers swiftly arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and transported it to the Kericho referral hospital mortuary for further investigation.
