60 students from Kalyet secondary school in Kipkelion, Kericho County are hospitalized in Londiani hospital over suspected food poisoning.

According to the hospital superintendent Dr Collins Kipkoech, the students were rushed to the hospital in the morning after complaining of stomachache, diarrhoea and vomiting.

The students were reported to have consumed Githeri which was suspected to have been contaminated.

Dr Kipkoech said most of the students have been stabilized and may be discharged from the hospital while some would remain for further observation.

He said the students were presented with diarrhoea and vomiting, an indication that it was likely a case of food poisoning.

The school management is yet to comment on the matter.
