Kenyans on Twitter mercilessly drag Governor Sakaja after sharing an old photo for credit

Sakaja was responding to a news tweet from a local news platform, which had posted, "Governor Sakaja invests in road sweeping trucks, equipped with garbage, dust collection bin and a cleaning system". They accompanied the tweet with a photo-grid image of road-sweeping trucks.
Under the tweet, Sakaja wrote, "Cheki" and went on to attach an image of a rather spotless street in the CBD as if to tout the excellent work his 'road sweeping trucks' have been doing.
However, Citizen Digital, as well as hordes of Twitter users, has established that the photo of the immaculately-clean Kimathi Street was actually taken at least three years ago.
A reverse image search shows that the photo was first shared on July 1, 2020.
After noticing the bluff, hundreds of Kenyans on Twitter roasted the Governor and pointed out his brazen subterfuge, with many hilariously hitting back with the same energy tweeting, "Pia wewe cheki".

"Wacha kutubeba ufala Bana. Yaani your entire social media team approved this photo? No one in your whole office told you that this is an old photo? Wow! Enyewe Gafana Kanairo ni mjamo," Twitter user @kamaujames said.
Another user, @QuincyWandera tweeted," Mtu mzima anaiba Picha za NMS ya Kenyatta na anakuja hapa ku brag over other people’s work!"
Many users also attached the popular 'Watu sio wajinga bana' meme accompanied by dismissive hand emojis.
Sakaja trounced his main opponent in the August 2022 elections, Polycarp Igathe who was seeking the seat on a Jubilee ticket.
Sakaja who was running on a UDA party ticket garnered a total of 699,392 votes, while Igathe raked in some 573,516 votes.
