Kenyans flock Ithookwe Stadium for Mashujaa Day celebrations

President William Ruto arrived at the stadium on Monday morning to lead the celebration that has attracted delegates, including Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Mozambique Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy.

At the fete, hundreds of Kenyans (Shujaas) will be recognized for their outstanding impact in the country. Thousands of Kenyans flocked Ithookwe Stadium on Monday morning to witness the event. 

The celebrations come a day after former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga was laid to rest at his home in Bondo. The death of Odinga on Wednesday, October 15, had spread uncertainty about the Mashujaa day celebrations. 

There had been speculations that the event had been canceled due to the ongoing mourning for the late former PM. 

However, government spokesperson, Isaac Mwaura, dismissed the claims and assured the citizens that the celebrations would continue as planned.

Mashujaa Day is an annual event that is aimed at celebrating the country's heroes and heroines who made remarkable contributions to the country's progress.
