Kenyan R&B star Ethan Muziki, real name Ethan Edwards Okoth, has changed his stage name in a move he says is about embracing his uniqueness and creating music which resonates with 'authenticity and emotion'.

Ethan, who is one of the finest singer-songwriters in Kenya, will now be officially known as 'Kethan'.

He shared that he felt like the new name sounded more uniquely his, adding that the name change would be beneficial in his steps towards 'greater heights'.

The 'Kesho Kutwa' hitmaker also reflected on the new name, saying that it represented a deeper part of who he was as an artist - a constantly evolving and experimental singer.

He wrote: "Over the past few months, I've been reflecting deeply on my journey as a musician and the identity I want to embody through my art. If you've been following me for a while you know I am never shy to take huge leaps in my career. Leaps that often might be difficult to comprehend in the beginning but that eventually prove to take us forward."

"Today, I'm excited to announce that I will be transitioning to a new artist name: Kethan. I've always cherished being known as Ethan, but I've come to realize that having a name that's uniquely mine will be beneficial in my steps towards greater heights; continentally and globally."

Kethan went on to thank his fans for their support and encouragement during the name-changing journey, asking fans to support him through the difficult transition.

"Kethan represents a deeper part of who I am as an artist—someone who is constantly evolving, experimenting, and striving to create music that resonates with authenticity and emotion," he said.

"This change is about embracing my uniqueness and I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and encouragement throughout this journey. Your love for my music has inspired me beyond words, and I am endlessly grateful for each connection we've made and I ask for your support through this transition as well."

While reminding his fanbase, affectionately known as 'Ethanals', that the community remained strong, he also promised to share more of his 'soul' through the new identity.

"Our community as Ethanals remains and is continuing to grow and I can't thank you enough for being a part of my world. I'm deeply happy to share more of my soul with you through this new identity," he assured.

Kethan is known for smash hits such as 'Kesho Kutwa', 'Wimbo Wetu', 'Tokea' and 'Sweet Matunda'. He has also done collaborations with artists like Bridget Blue, Kinoti, Watendawili group, and Brandy Maina among many others.
