The effort will be showcased at The Kenyan Fashion Story 2026, set for November 28 at Karen Village in Nairobi under the theme 'The Next Chapter'.
Founded by Ingred Awuor, the platform seeks to bring together different players in the fashion ecosystem, including designers, models, stylists, photographers, makeup artists, musicians, content creators, entrepreneurs, consumers and industry partners.
Organisers say the focus will go beyond the traditional runway by addressing the business aspects of the fashion industry, including pricing, professionalism, branding, partnerships and access to markets.
Awuor says the initiative is intended to tell the stories behind Kenyan fashion while creating connections that can translate into business and career opportunities for creatives.
The 2026 edition will feature runway presentations by Kenyan designers alongside fashion and lifestyle exhibitions, live storytelling, industry conversations, entertainment and networking sessions.
Made in Kenya will form a central part of the event, with guests expected to interact with and shop from local brands.
Organisers are also encouraging consumers to discover, wear and support locally produced fashion, arguing that increased demand for Kenyan-made products can help create room for creatives to build sustainable careers.
The event is expected to bring together emerging and established creatives, providing a platform for collaborations and partnerships across the fashion ecosystem.
The daytime programme will run from noon to 7 pm and will include awards recognising outstanding designers, models and personal style.
The Kenyan Fashion Story has partnered with Delight School of Fashion, Style Secrets, Rana Modelling Agency, Wine Box, Kai Insurance, Topspin Brands, Wangu Kafari Security Services, Lintons Academy and KenyanVibe.
Organisers are inviting more businesses and organisations to participate through sponsorships, exhibitions, partnerships and other forms of collaboration.
The initiative comes amid efforts by stakeholders to increase the visibility of Kenyan creative talent both locally and internationally, with consumers being urged to support local designers and other creatives by buying Kenyan-made products.
