The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is set to host the Global Conservation Tech & Drone Forum (GCTDF 2026), scheduled for 2–6 March 2026 in Nairobi and Konza Technopolis, bringing global attention to the growing role of technology in wildlife conservation.

Held under the theme “Technology in Service of Nature: Protecting Wildlife, Supporting People, Restoring Ecosystems,” the forum will convene rangers, community leaders, technologists, researchers, policymakers and youth from Africa and beyond to examine how emerging tools such as drones, satellite sensors, artificial intelligence, GIS and data systems are reshaping conservation practice.

The event comes at a time when conservation agencies are increasingly turning to technology to address challenges such as poaching, habitat loss, climate pressure and human–wildlife conflict. Organisers say the forum will provide a platform for practical discussions on how innovation can strengthen biodiversity protection while supporting community livelihoods.

KWS’s role in hosting GCTDF 2026 aligns with its 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, which prioritises science-led management, stronger community engagement and sustainable conservation models.

During the forum, KWS will share insights on Kenya’s ecosystems and conservation priorities, participate in live demonstrations of drone and data technologies for wildlife monitoring and habitat protection, and engage with international partners on scalable and ethical conservation solutions. The Service will also use the platform to highlight Kenya’s experience in integrating technology into wildlife management.

The forum is expected to feature exhibitions, workshops, poster sessions, and live demonstrations, alongside discussions on inclusive conservation innovation, ecosystem resilience and community benefits. All sessions and project outputs will be openly shared to encourage wider access and global collaboration.
