Kenya reign supreme at the World Cross Country championships

World Cross Country champion Beatrice Chebet clocked 31:05
to lead Kenyans to sweep five top positions in women's 10km senior race at
World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
The Kenyan squad performed a masterpiece stroke making the highly anticipated competition inconceivable.
Chebet’s victory further stretches Kenya’s dominance in the senior race with consecutive titles since 2009.
Lilian Kasait Rengeruk clocked 31:08, one second ahead of Margaret Chelimo Kipkemoi to clinch Silver and Bronze respectively.
Sirikwa classic champion Emmaculate Anyango came fourth while Agnes Ngetich, who bagged bronze in last year's edition in Bathrust, Australia came fifth to seal the sweep at the Serbian Capital.
Meanwhile, Kenyan quartet of Reynold Cheruiyot, Virginia Nyambura, Kyumbe Munguti and Purity Chepkirui clocked 22:15 to mount a strong title defence in the race.
The triumph adds a third title to Kenya’s cabinet since the race was introduced in 2017.
National trials winner and pre-race favourite Samuel Kibathi clocked 22:40 to bag gold in U20 men's race as another Kenyan Mathew Kipkoech Kipruto claimed bronze while Ethiopia's Megzebu Sime took silver.
Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo and Ethiopia’s Beruhi Aregawi replicated last year's stellar performances in the Men's senior race by defending their gold and silver medals respectively. Benson Kiplangat clocked 28:14 to claim bronze.
