The Kenyan Athletics team got off to a flying start in the Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games, with Janet Chepkoech and Nancy Cherop anchoring Kenya's dominance in the women's 1500m with wins in heats one and two.

Their male counterparts recorded a similar feat, with Josephat Sang and Andrew Kiptoo easily cruising to victory in their respective heats to book slots in the finals.

Cyclists Daniel Kiptala and Billy Graham put in a spirited fight in their road race to finish 14th and 15th in a photo finish.

The young Lionesses will face Canada later today in the last match of the round-robin tournament.

In the Para-athletics category, Faith Kavithi qualified for the finals after finishing fourth in the T35 women's 100m but was unable to finish her race in the finals after she tripped and fell.

Randy Odhiambo made it to the finals in the T38 men's 100m semis and finished seventh.

In Swimming, Sara Mose recorded a personal best in the women's 50m backstroke and 50m free, while Aker Mutinda also recorded a similar feat in the men's 50m fly and the 100m free.
