The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has announced the dates for the second edition of the African Junior Beach Volleyball Development Cup.
The annual tournament, inaugurated last year with the first
edition in Banjul, Gambia has been scheduled for August 8-14, 2026 in Dakar
Senegal.
This year’s tournament will feature seven teams in both the
boys' and girls' categories, with Kenya missing out again.
Boys’ teams feature hosts Senegal, Morocco, DR Congo, Ghana,
Sierra Leone, Namibia and South Africa.
Last year’s champions and hosts, Gambia, will not feature in
this year’s edition.
Girls’ teams consist of hosts Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt,
Tunisia, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Gambia.
The tournament forms part of CAVB’s strategic preparations
for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games scheduled for October 2026 in Dakar,
Senegal.
Kenya currently lacks a junior beach volleyball team, but
the introduction of the sport in secondary school games this year may enable
the country to participate in future competitions.
