Kenya Under-20
rugby team head coach Curtis Aluoch has rung the changes in his team as he seeks
to revive their World Rugby U20 Trophy hopes.
Chipu will
be looking to turn around their fortunes when they face Spain on Thursday afternoon
at the Nyayo National Stadium after their opening loss to Samoa on Saturday.
Head Coach
Curtis Aluoch said, “We have been working on sorting out our mistakes from our
opening game and trying to get a rhythm in terms of attack.”
“I believe
we defended fairly well in our last game but as we head into the clash against
Spain, our attack system should be able to put the opponents under pressure.”
Aluoch has
made six changes to the side that started in the the 24-35 defeat, handing a
first tournament appearance to James Olela who will slot in at fullback role.
George
Otieno and Mike Oduor will start on the front row.
Stanslaus
Shikoli who touched down for Chipu’s first try in their match against Samoa has
been sent to the bench after falling ill as Edmund Omondi step ups to replace
him in the starting 15.
Vincent
Omondi has been given the nod ahead of Iddo Kuta at openside while Victor
Odhiambo will be on the right wing in place of Alvin Mwamburi
Faran Juma,
who started last weekend’s match at fullback, will look to have more impact on
the game at flyhalf in place of Eddy Wambugu who is rested for this fixture.
