Kenya Kwanza leaders rally behind Ruto's Vision 2060, call for inclusive development charter

Kenya Kwanza leaders have intensified campaigns in support of President William Ruto's proposed Vision 2060, urging Kenyans to embrace the planned National Development Charter as a roadmap for the country's post-Vision 2030 future.

The leaders, speaking in Mandera, Kericho, Bomet and Garissa counties, called for all regions to be included in the national conversation while rallying voters to back President Ruto's development agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In Takaba, Mandera West, Kenya Kwanza leaders championed President Ruto's re-election bid, citing progress in addressing decades of marginalisation in Northern Kenya and calling for the region's inclusion in the proposed National Development Charter.

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe said the proposed charter would give every Kenyan an opportunity to contribute to the country's future.

"Namshukuru William Ruto kwa sababu ruwaza ya National Development Charter itaskiza Wakenya… yule mlemavu, mzee wote wasikizwe," said Mugabe.

The leaders noted that North Eastern Kenya has long lagged behind in infrastructure and public services, urging affirmative action to accelerate development in historically neglected regions.

President Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet said the proposed national conversation should focus on addressing regional development disparities.

"Mandera ni Kenya na ndio maana Rais Ruto anasema Wakenya wazungumzie Vision 2060 isipokuwa wakabila hawakuelewa… ukija hapa unaona barabara haijawekwa na lazima watu wazungumzie wapate maendeleo… tunataka airport iende mbele," Kibet added.

Other leaders highlighted reforms in the issuance of national identity cards, saying the benefits first witnessed in North Eastern Kenya have now spread to other parts of the country.

"2027 tujitokeze tuonyeshe wale wanasema ni wa mulima na ni wengi sisi pia ni wengi, wale hawajachukua kipande mchukue kipande…"Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo stated.

"Alituondolea vetting, huku mmekuwa na shida ya security si imerudi, tulikuwa tunapigwa leo tuko salama," Laikipia Woman Rep Jane Kagiri added,

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse on his part said, "Wewe ni Mkenya na hukuwa unapewa kitambulisho, Ruto ametoa kasumba ya kitambo, amesema watu wapate vitambulisho bila maswali…"

In Kericho and Bomet counties, Kenya Kwanza leaders accused the opposition and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua of promoting divisive politics instead of focusing on development.

"They are conmen… Mlima Kenya Ruto ako na votes… in 2027 the discussion will be about the continuation of projects," said Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.

Kipkelion East MP Joseph Cherorot added, "Wamunyoro hana mbele wala nyuma… it was in public domain he was to talk of Vision 2060, so hakuna haja ya kujifanya."

Meanwhile, in Garissa County, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale dismissed Gachagua's claims of commanding a large voting bloc, saying voter numbers would only be determined after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission updates the register.

Speaking during a mosque fundraiser in Afuwein, Duale pledged to mobilise pastoralist and Muslim communities to support President Ruto's re-election.

"Riggy G ameokota vijana kutoka Thika and other areas claiming to be people from North Eastern, hata hawajui huku, eti wanasema sijajenga barabara kama mbunge, I built more than 100km of roads," said Duale.
