"The construction of Talanta Sports City for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is making excellent progress, alongside upgrading Kasarani Stadium. These venues hold significant importance for Kenya as we collaborate in hosting AFCON'27 with Uganda and Tanzania," the statement outlined.

Furthermore, the ministry disclosed that Nyayo National Stadium had been designated as Kenya's venue for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which the country is co-hosting with neighbouring Uganda and Tanzania, following consultations with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The ministry also noted that the contractor assigned to upgrade Nyayo National Stadium will commence work immediately after the conclusion of the Kipchoge Keino Classic on April 22, 2024.
