A Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) officer was on Tuesday morning killed and another one left injured after being run over by a runaway lorry at Chaka along the Nyeri - Nanyuki highway.
According to traffic commandant Mary Omari, the accident occurred after the driver declined to stop after being flagged down by traffic and KeNHA officers who had put a temporary weighbridge at the area.
The driver is said to have sped past the area running over the two officers.
Commandant Omari has said that a manhunt has been launched to locate and apprehend the perpetrator.
Meanwhile, the injured officer is nursing injuries at a nearby hospital.
Additionally, Omari has warned drivers against reckless driving, urging them to exercise utmost caution on the roads.
