KDF soldier killed, two tourists injured in accident on Nyahururu-Nyeri road

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier died on Tuesday afternoon in a road accident at Equator area in Ndaragwa on the Nyahururu- Nyeri road.

The officer identified Kenneth Muriithi Njiru was driving from Nyeri towards Nyahururu when his private car, a Toyota Platz, collided with a Land Cruiser ferrying four tourists towards Nyeri.

Police sources claimed that the KDF officer was driving on the wrong lane and as the Land cruiser approached, he tried to avoid a head-on-collision but hit car was hit on the driver’s side killing him on the spot.

The injured tourists were taken to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital while the body of the slain officer was moved to the same hospital’s mortuary.

The two vehicles were towed to Ndaragwa Police station awaiting inspection.
