The victory capped an unbeaten weekend for the Bankers, who lifted the opening title of the 2026 circuit in impressive fashion. Coached by Andrew Amonde, KCB began the knockout stage with a dominant 19-0 victory over hosts Nakuru RFC, popularly known as Wanyore, in the quarterfinals before defeating Ngong Road rivals Kenya Harlequin 24-12 in an entertaining semifinal to book a place in the final against Kabras Sugar.
KCB had also been dominant during the group stages on Saturday, opening their campaign with a 29-12 win over Nondescripts (Nondies), before tightening up defensively to shut out NYS Spades 14-0. They wrapped up the day with a commanding 25-5 victory over Catholic Monks to finish top of their pool.
Speaking after the final, head coach Andrew Amonde praised his players for executing their game plan throughout the tournament.
"I'm happy that we achieved our target. This was not just about winning the Prinsloo Sevens, but also about playing the way we had planned throughout the tournament," said Amonde.
"We now shift our focus to the Dala Sevens, where we may also allow some of the new players to showcase what they can do."
KCB captain Elvis Olukusi was named Player of the Final after producing an outstanding all-round performance against Kabras Sugar. The skipper led from the front as the Bankers secured their first Prinsloo Sevens title since 2020.
"Winning the opening leg of the circuit gives us confidence heading into the rest of the season," said Olukusi.
"Every player stepped up when called upon, and this trophy is a reward for the hard work we put in during the preseason. We appreciate the support from our fans, and our focus now is on maintaining this momentum at the Dala Sevens."
The National Sevens Circuit now shifts to the Dala Sevens, scheduled for August 1-2, 2026, at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu—the same venue where KCB sealed the overall National Sevens Circuit title last season.
