Kayole Starlets are determined to bounce back after suffering a narrow 2–1 defeat to Kibera Soccer Women last weekend in the FKF Women’s Premier League.
The loss saw the Nairobi-based side miss
an opportunity to climb higher in the standings, leaving them seventh on the
log with 22 points, level with Kibera but separated by goal difference.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, assistant coach Esther Mazira admitted that missed
chances cost her side maximum points despite a promising performance.
“We played well and created several clear
scoring opportunities, but we were not clinical in front of goal. The
performance was good, we conceded very late but at least we picked up the
positives from the match,” Mazira noted.
Kayole showed attacking intent throughout
the match but were punished for their wastefulness, allowing Kibera to
capitalize and secure all three points.
Attention now shifts to their upcoming
fixture against Kisped Queens.
"We now shift focus to the next
match against Kisped and with the same performance, I believe we will get
maximum points," she added.
The encounter is scheduled for Sunday at
Mumboha Stadium in Kisumu County, as the clash presents a crucial opportunity
for Kayole Starlets to regain momentum and strengthen their push up the table
as the league campaign intensifies.
A positive result for Kayole could not
only boost their morale, but also tighten the race in the mid-table standings,
as the season enters a decisive phase.
