Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is now accusing police officers of protecting goons as they unleash terror on innocent Kenyans.

Kalonzo says the return of criminal gangs in the country, as witnessed during an attack on All Saints Cathedral after a post-budget meeting, threatens to plunge the country into lawlessness.

The Wiper leader, who was in Kyuso Ward, Kitui County, for a burial ceremony, accused the National Police Service (NPS) of making goons its appendage, further claiming the government of resorting to goons to silence opposition voices.

“Kuna idara ya polisi ambayo sasa inamilikiwa na magoons; wengine wanabeba pistols. Kazi ya police ukifika Nairobi, badala ya kulinda usalama, wanalinda goons ndio hao goons wazuie kina Kalonzo, Gachagua, Matiang’i na kina Wamalwa, wasisonge ili waokoe Kenya,” he said.

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Dr Fred Matiang’i also joined in condemning the attack, saying the rising cases of criminal attacks are threatening to plunge the country into chaos.

"All Saints Cathedral is in our capital city. How can criminals come in and beat up people? Don't we have shame?" Matiang'i posed.

Matiang’i said the attack on All Saints Cathedral was uncalled for, warning that such incidents scare away potential investors.

"How do you have people running around with rungus in our capital city just to disrupt people discussing a Bill in Parliament? We must be serious as a country," he said.

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni also weighed in, blaming political leaders for encouraging hooliganism and violence.

"We were told in 2022 that we elected watu wa 'wash wash' and goons. It is true. Even some MPs are goons inside that Parliament. Ethiopia is suffering because of goons," Kioni said.
