Speaking at the SKM Command Centre on Monday, Kalonzo said the arrest of five suspects in connection with last Thursday's incident at Migwena Grounds was insufficient, insisting that investigators must pursue those believed to have orchestrated the violence.
The Wiper leader accused the government of deploying what he described as "predatory violence" to intimidate opposition leaders and prevent them from engaging with residents in regions perceived to support the broad-based government.
He alleged that state actors were working with hired gangs to disrupt opposition activities, accusing the government of using security agencies to suppress political dissent.
Kalonzo's remarks came a day after former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo made comments during a church service suggesting that he had played a role in mobilising youths who travelled to Bondo ahead of the memorial event.
The Wiper leader challenged security agencies to establish the identities of those responsible for planning and financing the violence, maintaining that accountability should extend beyond the five suspects already arrested.
Kalonzo also accused President William Ruto and leaders allied to the broad-based government of using security agencies to frustrate opposition activities in perceived government strongholds.
He maintained that the opposition would continue engaging Kenyans across the country despite what he described as attempts to restrict political mobilisation.
The Wiper leader further expressed confidence in his ability to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 General Election, claiming he could defeat the incumbent in the Luo Nyanza region if nominated as the United Opposition's presidential candidate.
Turning to the escalating political tensions in Trans Nzoia County, Kalonzo criticised the government's handling of Governor George Natembeya, describing the developments in Kitale as a matter of national concern.
His remarks followed a heavy police deployment at the Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale on Monday, which disrupted business activities amid a standoff involving the governor and the national government.
Kalonzo accused the government of intimidating and victimising Natembeya, warning that the dispute reflected broader concerns over the treatment of opposition leaders.
He urged Kenyans to defend their constitutional rights and freedoms, insisting that political differences should not be used to justify violence or restrictions on opposition activities.
The Wiper leader maintained that the United Opposition would pursue its political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election despite the mounting tensions.
