A family in Lurambi Constituency in Kakamega County is counting losses after their chicken died as a result of poisoning.

The incident, which saw unknown people commit the heinous act, saw at least fifteen chicken killed.

Duncan Eshiwani, who hails from Eshibeye Mulwanda village in Butsotso Ward is a distraught man.

“My flock of chicken was poisoned by unknown people. I do not know what their motive was,” Eshiwani said.

He told Citizen Digital that he believes the perpetrators might have used rat poison.

“I found five of them dead when I come back home. Before I knew it, ten others died in succession,” he lamented.

Locals condemned the incident, expressing shock at the bizarre turn of events.

“I am shocked that someone can do this kind of thing in our village. I strongly condemn this act,” Bernard Okwara, a village elder, said.

The residents said this is the first time that an incident of this nature happened in the village.

They want an investigation launched and legal action taken against the culprits.
