Kajiado County Assembly Minority Whip and Purko MCA Simon
Mumeita Saitoti has been announced dead.
The MCA passed away at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi on
Wednesday, where he had been undergoing treatment following a minor surgery.
Reports indicate that Saitoti, 42, checked into the facility
on February 26 and the surgical procedure was conducted on him.
He was later transferred to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) after the procedure, where he remained until his passing.
Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Justus Ngossor has since
confirmed Saitoti’s passing, noting that the House will take the lead in
preparing for the deceased’s interment.
“The County Assembly fraternity has lost a gallant soldier, a
leader, a friend, and a colleague. We hereby convey our deepest condolences to
his family and friends,” said Ngossor in a statement on Thursday.
“We urge the leadership and residents of Purko Ward and our
great county to come together to condole with the family during this painful
time.”
Saitoti was elected into the 3rd County Assembly on August 9,
2022 to represent Purko Ward in Kajiado Central Constituency on a Wiper Party
ticket. He was subsequently elected Kajiado County Assembly’s Minority Whip.
The deceased also served as a member of Kajiado County’s House
Business, Roads, Trade and Rules and Procedures Committees.
