Kabras RFC will be seeking their sixth Enterprise Cup title in the last seven seasons when this year’s edition of the tournament kicks off on Saturday across various venues in the country.

The defending champions begin their title defence against Impala RFC at the ASK Showground in Kakamega, where they will be looking to extend their remarkable run and maintain their dominance in the historic competition.

Kakamega High School rugby head coach Amos Wamanga believes Kabras remain the team to beat.

“They are still the favourites to win the title. They have kept the same squad for a long time, the players understand each other, and many of them have experience with the national team. That gives them healthy competition within the squad,” said Wamanga.

Other fixtures on the opening weekend will see Kenya Harlequin hosting Catholic Monks at the RFUEA Grounds, Menengai Oilers facing MMUST RFC in Nakuru, and Nakuru RFC clashing with SC Pirates at the Nakuru Athletics Club.

Wamanga expects the tournament to remain a contest among the top sides, noting last season’s final in which Kabras defeated Menengai Oilers 33–12.

“The big teams—Kabras, KCB, and Menengai Oilers—will still dominate the competition. But with the new format, it will be a good challenge for all teams, especially with Ugandan opponents coming in,” he added.

This season introduces a revised structure to the Enterprise Cup: the four Kenyan teams that advance from the domestic quarter-finals will meet four Ugandan sides in cross-border quarter-final fixtures. Winners will progress to the semi-finals scheduled for 21 March and 11 April 2026, ahead of the final set for 23 May 2026.
