The Jubilee Party has appointed an inter-party committee tasked with engaging fellow opposition political outfits on possible cooperation and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Jubilee said its National Executive Committee (NEC), chaired by party leader and presidential candidate Dr. Fred Matiang’i, approved the formation of the committee during a meeting held on October 27.

The committee, chaired by former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura, will spearhead engagements with like-minded political parties and coalitions as the opposition seeks to strengthen its unity ahead of the elections.

Gitura will be joined by Jubilee National Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta and Janet Ong’era, who will serve as members of the committee.

According to the party, the team will review and propose any amendments to the draft Deed of Agreement for The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA), as well as explore avenues for cooperation with other opposition formations.

“The NEC reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to constructive dialogue, cooperation and the pursuit of a common agenda for the transformation of our country,” SG Ole Kenta said in the statement.

Jubilee said building consensus and strengthening unity among opposition parties would be essential in preparations for the 2027 General Election.

The committee is expected to submit its recommendations to the NEC for consideration and further direction.

In a separate resolution, the NEC approved the appointment of Lucy Naisaiae Kashu as interim chairperson of the party’s Women’s Caucus.

Madina Yunis Mahat was also appointed interim Deputy National Organising Secretary to fill vacant party positions in an acting capacity.
