James Mworia appointed founding CEO of National Infrastructure Fund

According to the Board of Directors of NIF, Mworia will lead the mission to establish it as a credible National Investment Institution and to build the infrastructure enterprises required to deliver its mandate.

Mworia is expected to establish NIF’S organization, people, systems and institutional culture, operationalizing its governance, investment, and risk management frameworks, developing a credible and investable project pipeline, mobilising co-investment capital, and progressing priority projects through rigorous appraisal, structuring and execution.

Mworia was the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Centum Investment Company PLC, a role he held for 17 years.

Earlier this year, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi appointed Mworia to the National Infrastructure Fund (NIF) Board for a three-year term effective July 8, 2026.

The board, shepherded by President William Ruto, serves as the key engine for aligning the administration’s financial resources with national development priorities.
