Kip Keino Classic meet director Barnaba Korir says Kenya is ready to host the fourth edition of the continental tour gold event that will be held at the Moi international Sports Center Kasarani on Saturday.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Korir said preparations are in top gear as Kenya hosts international athletes who started arriving in the country last Saturday.

“We are ready to host the event on Saturday. The preparations are in top gear, many top athletes are coming in the country and that is why we have to be well prepared to host them. With the support we are getting form the government and our sponsors we will deliver a great event for our fans,” said Korir.

Among the athletes who have arrived  in the country are; reigning world javelin champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, Olympic 200m silver medallist Kenneth Bednarek and 100m sensation Sha’ Carri Richardson both of USA.

“The athletes coming for this event have very special interest in Kenya and the event itself, because they know the level of competition they are expecting and how it will make them better athletes in their respective races. That is why we are expecting fireworks,”added Korir

Korir, who doubles as Athletics Kenya Nairobi region chairman has also assured fans of heightened security with entry to the Kasarani stadium free.

“Entry is free for all courtesy of the government.  We will also have entertainment from top Kenyan artists and it will be a fun for everyone who will be in Kasarani. We are urging Kenyans from across the country to come in numbers to support our athletes,” Korir said.
