The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, will on Saturday, 16th May 2026, grace the grand finale of the Cheraa Unity Cup at Zion Transend Stadium in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County.

The highly anticipated event will bring together football fans, local leaders, and youth groups for a decisive showdown between Sibanga FC and Kapsara FC, with the final match scheduled to kick off at 12:00 PM, presenting a culmination of weeks of competitive fixtures across the tournament.

In the last four Kapsara FC drubbed Motcom United while Sibanga narrowly edged City FC 1-0 to qualify for the finals.

The winner of the final will walk away with a grand prize of Ksh 1 million, underscoring the growing investment in grassroots sports as a tool for youth empowerment and community development.

This year's edition saw a whopping 56 men's and women's teams participate, underlining the tournament's immense growth over the years.

The Cheraa Unity Cup has steadily gained popularity within the region, drawing participation from local teams and fostering healthy competition among young athletes.

The event will also be graced by the Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho, as the chief guest, alongside other government officials and stakeholders.

Organised under the Cheraa Unity Cup initiative, the tournament has been widely praised for its role in bringing communities together and providing young people with opportunities to showcase their talent.

The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to use sports as a vehicle for peacebuilding and youth engagement, particularly in areas where such programs have a strong social impact.

The tournament is sponsored by the OKM Foundation, which has been instrumental in supporting community-based sporting activities and youth empowerment programs in the region.
