Two police crackdowns on illicit brew and the sale of cannabis in Migori and Murang'a counties have led the arrest of two suspects.

The National Police Service (NPS) reported that officers from Migori County Police Headquarters raided Pandi area while on mobile patrol in Migori Township, apprehending one suspect.

"During the operation, officers recovered suspected narcotic substances believed to be cannabis sativa (bhang), including 358 rolls, 30 grams of unprocessed cannabis, seven packets of uncustomed Super Match cigarettes, and 1.5 litres of chang’aa," NPS said on Sunday.

Likewise in Murang'a, a police patrol in Mbombo area led to the arrest of a female suspect for the alleged trafficking of narcotic drugs.

She was said to be in possession of 118 rolls of bhang wrapped in a black polythene bag and cash amounting to Ksh.1,235.

Both suspects were taken into police custody pending arraignment in court.

The NPS and other security organs have intensified a crackdown on the sale and consumption of illegal substances, vowing to permanently tame the vice.
